Easy Breezy: 7 Quick Ways to Bring Summer Vibes into Your Home

by Greene Street Interior Design

Hello sunshine!

Summer is just around the corner (finally!) and it’s the perfect time to give your home a little seasonal refresh. Whether you're planning a staycation, hosting BBQs in the garden, or just want to bring a bit of that carefree summer feeling inside, there are loads of simple ways to do it—without redecorating your entire home.

At Greene Street Interior Design, we love homes that feel lived-in and relaxed. So here are 7 quick and easy ideas to bring those light, bright, summery vibes into your space— no major effort (or bank balance!) required.

Lighten Up Your Textiles

The fastest way to shift the mood of a room? Change the fabrics. Pack away those thick throws and heavy cushions and bring in soft, breathable materials like cotton and linen. Pale neutrals work beautifully—think white, stone, and soft grey—with a hint of summer colour like sage green, blush pink or sunshine yellow.

Linen cushions or a lightweight throw across the sofa can make a room feel fresher and more inviting in an instant.

Bring the Outside In

Nothing says summer like nature. A few sprigs of greenery, a jug of wildflowers, or a big leafy plant in the corner of the room adds that effortless, just-picked feeling. You don’t need a fancy arrangement— sometimes a few branches in a glass bottle are all you need.

Herbs like mint or rosemary in small pots also add a lovely touch to kitchens and window sills—and smell amazing too.

Switch Up Your Scents

Scent has the power to transform how a space feels. Now’s the time to swap wintery candles for lighter, fresher fragrances. Think citrus, eucalyptus, sea salt or cucumber. Reed diffusers, essential oil sprays or soy wax candles can all add a gentle, summery scent without being overpowering.

Place one in the hallway or living room so it’s the first thing you notice when you walk in.

Add a Pop of Colour

Summer’s the season to have a little fun with your interiors. You don’t have to go full tropical, but a few colourful accents can really lift a space. Try a patterned cushion, a bright print, or a colourful jug for fresh flowers.

A few well-placed pieces in coral, turquoise, or mustard can energise a neutral room without making it feel busy.

Clear the Clutter

Summer living is all about ease. Take a few minutes to clear off side tables, coffee tables, and shelves. Leave just a few intentional pieces: a candle, a favourite book, maybe a small plant or vase. A bit of breathing space can make your home feel more open and restful, especially during the warmer months.

Bonus tip: if you’ve got a hallway or porch, keep it clear and tidy—it’s the first thing that greets you when you come home. Easier said than done, so that’s why clever storage is your best friend!

Create a Summer Soundtrack

This one might surprise you, but sound is part of the vibe too. Put together a playlist of easy-going, sunny tunes to have on in the background. Whether you’re cooking, pottering around, or just enjoying a slow Sunday morning, a bit of music helps set the tone.

Soft acoustic tracks, classic soul, or chilled-out indie are all great choices for a summery feel.

Add Natural Texture

Nothing says relaxed summer living like a touch of rattan, wicker, jute or bamboo. These natural textures bring a lovely warmth and beachy quality to your space. You don’t need to go big—even a woven basket, a rattan lampshade, or a seagrass rug can make a difference.

They work with pretty much any interior style, from modern to traditional, and give your home a soft, organic feel.

Wrap-Up

So there you have it—seven simple ways to bring a bit of summer indoors. No big spends, no mess, just thoughtful little updates that make your space feel lighter, brighter, and ready for the season.
